Our products are manufactured in-house in Germany from materials we source ourselves, allowing for stringent quality control. Our technicians work with medical professionals at the highest levels in sports and medicine to research, develop, and test our supports before you get them.
In 1929, Bruno Bauerfeind established the company in Zeleunroda, Germany. We were pioneers of medical-grade compression and specialised exclusively in compression stockings.
Then, in 1981, under the guidance of Hans B. Bauerfeind, we launched the first-ever GenuTrain Knee Brace and revolutionised the supports industry. He sketched the first GenuTrain concept while observing the German national soccer team during a match. Hans was an innovator and inventor, working with doctors and technicians to create unique padding, knit, and stay technologies.
Since the launch of the GenuTrain, we’ve been expanding our product offering into orthoses, compression braces, insoles, and sports supports. Our sports line launched in 2016, based on our own medical expertise and many years of helping elite athletes overcome injury and elevate their performance.
Today, Bauerfeind is in over 50 countries, two of which are us! We established the Australia and New Zealand branch in 2018 to bring a new level of quality of medical and sports supports locally.
We opened our flagship store in Sydney CBD, and we are constantly growing. If there isn’t a physical store near you just yet, we deliver Australia and New Zealand-wide, with our customer service team ready to assist with product selection and fitting. Since our opening, we’ve worked closely with a growing list of elite sports teams spanning the NRL, ARU, AFL, NBL and more to enhance their recovery and performance.

All of our compression garments meet the globally recognised RAL—GZ 387 quality assurance standards, ensuring the materials, knitting construction, style, and pressure distribution comply with strict medical requirements.
Bauerfeind has been a fixture of the Olympic games since 2002, with Bauerfeind ANZ preparing legends like Teigan Allen and Harry Peacock. Outside the Olympics, top athletes across the world rely on our outstanding quality. Among those is Dirk Nowitzki, who’s been a Bauerfeind Ambassador since 2016.
