Skiing Back Braces

Lower back pain is one of the most common yet painful joint issues that people have to deal with. When it strikes, it stops you from doing anything physical, which is the last thing you want when you've got a ski trip booked and everything has been paid for. Physiotherapy and rest certainly help, but if you want to stay on the slopes, you'll need a skiing back brace to relieve the pain and protect your joints.

Bauerfeind's range of ski back braces vary from a normal massaging back support for those niggles and stiff muscles, all the way to unloading supports that completely stabilise and protect your spine in virtually any movement.

Find answers to the most common questions.

Can I wear these all day or just when I play?

Most of our Performance line is designed for wear during active movement rather than all day, while our main range (products ending in "Train" or "Loc") are better suited for injury management and all day wear, whether it's sports, exercise, work or just chores around the house.

If you're unsure if the support you're looking at is ideal for all day wear, just give us a call on 1300 668 466.

Can I still move properly in these?

These supports are designed to allow for regular range of movement while stabilising the joint and preventing injury. This means you can confidently move in pivots, sudden changes of direction, jumps and landing as well as quick steps and positioning.

Will these overheat?

Bauerfeind's range of supports are made from an ultra-breathable cotton/elastic weave that's perfect for active use of any level. Clinically shown to vent heat more effectively than any other support, it's perfect for air-flow, temperature regulation and comfort.

How do I take care of these products?

Virtually all of our products can be machine washed on a cold gentle cycle and air dried out of direct sunlight. Putting them on and taking them off carefully is recommended, and for specific product care, refer to the product manual or contact our friendly staff.

What is the warranty for these products?

All supports and insoles come with a 12 month warranty, and compression stockings with a 3 month warranty for any manufacturers faults. At any point if you've got issues with the product or aren't sure if something is wrong, just contact our helpful staff.

How do I know they'll fit?

Bauerfeind have an incredibly extensive sizing system for our products based off of hundreds of thousands of patient measurements. The perfect anatomic fit system we use means that the supports are designed to fit your body, not the other way around. (We also offer custom options for a range of our products for those rare few who still can't fit into our sizing range).

Will these change how I play?

While any kind of brace or support will have an affect on your physical movement, it's in a positive sense. More stability in the joints and muscles, increased power with each movement and better balance mean that you'll move more effectively. It may take a little bit of adjustment with some supports that have rigid components, but long-term there should only be an improvement in your form.

How do these help me while I'm skiing?

Skiing can put a tremendous amount of stress and force on the knees, resulting in many issues with the ligaments and meniscus. By actively stabilising the joints while also supporting and activating the surrounding muscles, not only in the knees but other joints in the body, our supports should be part of any skier's gear bag.

Do I have to have an injury to wear these?

The beauty of these supports is their versatility. While there are a wide range of products to manage injury (the "Train" and "Loc" range), the performance line is perfect for helping you to get more out of each movement, not only enhancing your exercise for better results, but helping protect you from injury.
