Leg Braces
Torn hamstrings, strained quads or a niggling IT band. If you've played contact sports or like to push yourself in a workout, chances are you've experienced something similar to these issues. Resting and icing helps, but it puts you out of action for weeks, sometimes longer. Using a leg brace to recover more quickly is a great way to get over the injury faster and back into the things you love.

How do leg braces work?

When bracing to the leg, there is one action more important than any other, compression. Bauerfeind's leg braces work by providing targeted medical-grade compression to specific muscles and areas in the leg to alleviate pain and inflammation, reduce swelling, improve blood-flow and activate the muscles to get more power and less fatigue out of each movement, for both short and long-term recovery.

Will my legs move properly once I stop wearing these?

Braces help to support and stabilise parts of the body after injury, illness or other issues. Like any type of recovery, it's important not to rely on a single thing, and for physical issues affecting the legs, that's particularly true. While wearing a leg brace, you should continue to strengthen and exercise the muscles to ensure the best recovery, so that when you start to ease off how often the brace is worn, your leg is strong and flexible.

Why not just strengthen the muscle?

It is true that strengthening is the primary way to effectively recover from injury, especially when done with the supervision and guidance of a physiotherapist. However, there's no need to do this alone, and combining it with a healthy diet, routine and bracing/supports, you can get more out of the strengthening, as well as alleviating the pain and discomfort that often stops people from properly exercising.
