Why can't I just let it heal naturally?

Your meniscus is in a very important but unfortunate position in the knee. While it helps to stabilise and soften movement, reducing pressure between the bones, it also is in an area with incredibly low blood supply. Combined with the matter that it's made of, the meniscus often has incredible trouble healing on it's own. Using a brace to reduce the pain and inflammation and assist your recovery is the best option for this type of knee issue.
