ACL Knee Braces – Ligament Protection

Support for ACL Tears, Sprains & Reconstruction Recovery

The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is one of the most frequently injured ligaments in the knee, ranging from partial sprains (Grade 1–2) to complete ruptures (Grade 3). Whether you’re recovering from ACL reconstruction surgery, managing an existing tear or undertaking non-surgical rehabilitation, the right knee brace plays a critical role in protecting the joint and supporting safe, controlled movement. Whether you’re in the early stages of recovery or progressing through rehabilitation, Bauerfeind ACL knee braces deliver reliable, clinically informed support.

Engineered in Germany, Bauerfeind ACL braces are equipped with advanced medical-grade compression, stabilising frames, and adjustable hinge systems. This design protects the ligament and guides movement through every stage of recovery.

How Bauerfeind ACL Braces Help

Our ACL knee braces are designed to:

• Reduce strain on the ACL and surrounding structures
• Improve joint stability during walking, running and pivoting
• Control range of motion (ROM) during early and progressive rehabilitation
• Reduce swelling and inflammation following injury or surgery
• Enhance proprioception and muscle activation
• Provide confidence during return-to-sport progression

Each brace integrates breathable compression knit, lightweight frames and anatomically shaped stabilisers to deliver secure support with all-day comfort.

Comfort Throughout the ACL Recovery Journey

ACL rehabilitation often spans several months, making comfort essential for consistent brace wear.

Bauerfeind ACL braces feature:

• Lightweight, low-profile stabilising frames
• Adjustable, padded straps for personalised tension
• Soft knit materials around sensitive areas
• Secure, stay-in-place fit without digging or slipping

Designed for daily wear, physiotherapy sessions and controlled progression back to activity.

Research-Driven Innovation

Every Bauerfeind ACL brace undergoes extensive biomechanical testing and long-term refinement. Bauerfeind has also partnered with the University of Melbourne and Dr Tom Cross to evaluate ACL hinge technology that may support non-surgical ACL management – offering additional pathways for selected patients with complete ruptures under clinical guidance.

Find answers to the most common questions.

How do I recover from an ACL injury?

ACL injuries are graded based on severity, with a mild strain or tear falling under grade 1 while a full rupture or separation is a class 3. Recovery changes depending on how serious it is, but in general reducing activity and movement of the ligament as targeted strengthening is the foundation, combined with bracing to protect the ligament and strengthen the surrounding anatomy, and in some cases, undergoing surgery.

Will these weaken my muscles?

While cheaper and less effective braces can cause an issue known as reliance (where the muscles become weaker and rely on the brace), Bauerfeind have perfected the blend of stability and movement. By restricting or immobilising specific parts of the knee that need it, and freeing up the rest, you can continue to exercise, building and maintaining strength in the joint.

Can I wear these all day?

Virtually all our medical supports are designed to be worn for any length of time, whether it's half an hour after exercise to recover the muscle, or first thing in the morning to last thing at night.

How do I take care of these products?

Virtually all of our products can be machine washed on a cold gentle cycle and air dried out of direct sunlight. Putting them on and taking them off carefully is recommended, and for specific product care, refer to the product manual or contact our friendly staff.

Is there warranty for these products?

Every Bauerfeind product is crafted with precision and care and is covered by a manufacturing warranty in accordance with Consumer Law. Warranty periods may vary subject to product range. At any point if you've got issues with the product or aren't sure if something is wrong, just contact our helpful staff.

How do I know they'll fit?

Bauerfeind have an incredibly extensive sizing system for our products based off of hundreds of thousands of patient measurements. The perfect anatomic fit system we use means that the supports are designed to fit your body, not the other way around. (We also offer custom options for a range of our products for those rare few who still can't fit into our sizing range).
