Ankle Braces For Hiking

From rocky mountain trails and sandy hilltops to slippery riverbanks and rainforest paths, hiking can be a tricky thing for your ankles, especially if you've had an injury recently, or even long ago. Wearing an ankle support for hiking ensures you've got support and stability for just about any terrain.

Bauerfeind have a range of ankle braces for hiking from simple compression sleeves to rigid unloading supports that help even the most arthritic of joints to get moving.

Find answers to the most common questions.

Will these fit in my shoes?

All of our ankle supports and braces are anatomically designed to fit alongside the foot and comfortably slide into just about any shoe you've got. If the shoe is suitable for hiking or just a bushwalk, you'll be able to wear Bauerfeind's ankle supports with them.

Will these weaken my muscles?

While cheaper and less effective braces can cause an issue known as reliance (where the muscles become weaker and rely on the brace), Bauerfeind have perfected the blend of stability and movement. By restricting or immobilising specific parts of the ankle that need it, and freeing up the rest, you can continue to exercise, building and maintaining strength in the joint.

Can I wear these all day?

Virtually all our medical supports are designed to be worn for any length of time, whether it's half an hour after exercise to recover the muscle, or first thing in the morning to last thing at night.

How do I take care of these products?

Virtually all of our products can be machine washed on a cold gentle cycle and air dried out of direct sunlight. Putting them on and taking them off carefully is recommended, and for specific product care, refer to the product manual or contact our friendly staff.

What is the warranty for these products?

All supports and insoles come with a 12 month warranty, and compression stockings with a 3 month warranty for any manufacturers faults. At any point if you've got issues with the product or aren't sure if something is wrong, just contact our helpful staff.

How do I know they'll fit?

Bauerfeind have an incredibly extensive sizing system for our products based off of hundreds of thousands of patient measurements. The perfect anatomic fit system we use means that the supports are designed to fit your body, not the other way around. (We also offer custom options for a range of our products for those rare few who still can't fit into our sizing range).

How do these help me while I'm hiking?

Bauerfeind's range of supports are comfortable and durable, providing pain relief, fatigue reduction and stability. This support means you've got the best stability and relief that lets you walk along trails all day long.

Do I have to have an injury to wear these?

The beauty of these supports is their versatility. While there are a wide range of products to manage injury (the "Train" and "Loc" range), the performance line is perfect for helping you to get more out of each movement, not only enhancing your exercise for better results, but helping protect you from injury.
