The German designed and made MalleoTrain shapes across your ankle joint with a gentle but strong compression weave to increase blood flow and healing. With two gel supports built into the sleeve, your ankle is constantly massaged to relieve pain, swelling and any bruising in the joint. With a slim fit that's ideal for any level of activity, it's perfect for injury recovery, arthritis or just a bit of support for sports.

Amazing Ankle Support!! Great Product!

I had ankle pain due to my brisk walk and runs on the road. My ankle used to hurt really badly, after a lot of research and prior experience with Bauerfeind products, I decided to try the MaelloTrain Ankle Support. It helped me so much in my walks and in recovery, within a couple of months, my ankle became as good as it used to be, and I did not need the support anymore, I still do wear it as it gives me so much confidence.

Love the gel under the ankle which is perfect support and aids in recovery.

What are the most common ankle injuries?

The most common ankle injury is ankle sprains. Individuals involved in sports such as football, basketball, rugby and volleyball are at high risk of ankle sprains due to twisting and rolling movements of the foot. Depending on the level of damage to the ankle ligament, the three grades of ankle sprains are:

Grade 1: Mild sprain with soreness and slight swelling.
Grade 2: Moderate sprain with a partial ligament tear. The ankle joint is painful and remains swollen for a few days.
Grade 3: Severe sprain with a complete ligament tear. Heavy swelling and severe pain in the ankle joint.

Other commonly caused ankle injuries include ankle fractures, ankle strains and ankle tendinitis.

How can I prevent ankle sprains?

If you’ve already sprained your ankle once, you are at higher risk of a relapse. In addition, highly active individuals involved in activities such as sports (soccer, basketball, volleyball, rugby, tennis) or working in hospitality or construction are at higher risk of experiencing an ankle injury. To prevent ankle sprains, we recommend wearing Sports Ankle Dynamic or MalleoTrain. The MalleoTrain has graduated compression which promotes blood circulation and eliminates lactic acid aiding in prevention of ankle sprains.

What is the difference between Malleotrain Ankle Support and Malleotrain S Ankle Support?

The main difference between Malleotrain Ankle Support and Malleotrain S Ankle Support is the presence of the semi-elastic strap system present in Malleotrain S which functions as taping for the ankle. This aids in providing pain relief for Grade 1 and Grade 2 ankle sprains. Malleotrain, on the other hand, provides active support to the ankle tendons through the two viscoelastic pads. Malleotrain is best for preventing sprains and relapses. It is advisable for osteoarthritis patients as it improves proprioception and prevents injuries.

What is the difference between Malleotrain and Malleotrain Plus?

Malleotrain Plus is a combination of Malleotrain and MalleoTrain S. It has the viscoelastic pads of the Malleotrain and the elastic figure-of-eight strap system from Malleotrain S. Malleotrain Plus is beneficial for the treatment of ligament injuries such as torn ligament, Grade 2 and Grade 3 sprains, post-operative recovery and to prevent overpronation or supination of the foot. Malleotrain, on the other hand, provides active stabilisation of the ankle joint and is beneficial for milder injuries such as Grade 1 sprains, arthritis pain and injury prevention.

What is the best ankle support for arthritis pain?

Osteoarthritis (OA) patients might experience joint stiffness and pain due to weak bones and joints. We recommend wearing a Malleotrain at all times for active support and arthritis pain relief for your ankle joint. The graduated medical compression in Malleotrain promotes reabsorption of edemas and effusions which are common in arthritis patients. Degrading cartilage tissue causes more friction in the ankle joints in arthritis patients. This causes ankle swelling. The viscoelastic pads present at the back of the Malleotrain redistributes pressure, provide extra support and reduce swelling caused by arthritis.
