great ankle support

Injured my ankle during BJJ and wore this after a week of using tape. Much more comfortable and convenient than tape but less stability. Strap came loose a couple of times during rolling, but overall a good product.

Good Quality Product but with downside for flat foot

I bought this after I rolled my left ankle after almost got run over by a car when running few months back.

I wore this support few times for TaeKwonDo practice sessions and it helped to stabilize my ankle when doing lots of twisting, turning and pivoting.

The downside is that the sole of my foot becomes sore wearing this for TKD, it seems that the strap is still too tight even at its loosest setting and digs to the sole as I have a very flat foot.

So am going to try either the sports ankle or the sports ankle dynamic (not sure which one) with the hope that it'll be just right support that I need without soreness.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Malleotrain S Open Support and Malleotrain S Ankle Support?

The main difference between the two supports is the open heel area present in Malleotrain S Open Support. This increases the floor contact, improving the feeling of contact with the ground. Thus, it's beneficial for enjoying activities such as gymnastics, dancing, yoga and martial arts.

What is a good ankle support for sprains?

The Malleotrain S open heel uses the same mechanism as a functional tape bandage uses for treating mild sprains. It has a 3 level strap system which includes elastic, inelastic and semi-elastic straps providing the ankle stabilisation across all planes of movement. This strap system can be adjusted according to the severity of the sprain. Overall, Malleotrain S open heel is a more breathable ankle support. The fabric is stretchy and moisture-wicking and the open heel provides further exposure to ground. This support increases the natural mobility of the foot whilst preventing injuries.

What is the difference between Malleotrain Ankle Support and Malleotrain S open heel Support?

The main difference between Malleotrain Ankle Support and Malleotrain S Open Heel Support is the presence of the semi-elastic strap system present in Malleotrain S Open Heel Support which functions as taping for the ankle. This aids in providing pain relief for Grade 1 and Grade 2 ankle sprains. Malleotrain, on the other hand, provides active support to the ankle tendons through the two viscoelastic pads. The touch of the skin to the ground improves the unconscious movement control of the ankle joint by strengthening stimulus and proprioception.

How can I prevent relapse of an ankle injury?

A sprained ankle increases chances of re-injury by approximately 40-70%. The chances of relapse increase even more if you have higher level of activity. If you practise activities such as yoga, gymnastics, dancing or martial arts, we recommend wearing Malleotrain S Open Heel Support to prevent ankle injuries. It provides active support and stabilisation of the ankle joint, whilst improving tactile skin stimulus. The graded compression provided in Malleotrain S Open Heel improves blood circulation and provides proprioceptive benefits. To further strengthen your ankle join, practise strengthening exercises and stretch before your workouts.
